Chapter 12
Ophelia Rose
A Garden of Rose Covered Corpses
I woke up late.
I mean really fucking late. And I couldn’t exactly blame anyone but myself. It had been almost four am when Oliver had left my room. I swallowed, staring at my ceiling and thinking about the night before. Now, if you told me that was a dream? I would believe you. My head hurt like hell and my body was achy.
Was it really only Tuesday? Shit, this was messed up. I winced covering my eyes and seeing it was almost eleven am. Looking around for my phone, I found it on top of the coffee table along with the pain medicine. Had he come back? Underneath my phone was a folded neat note.
Princess, Rest up - We will stop by after school.
B, K, & O.
Well, isn’t that freakin’ cute? I curled up on the couch bringing my knees against my forehead after swallowing the pain pills. I should consider myself lucky, I could have been in a far worse situation. I think it was one of the reasons that the bastard’s death didn’t bother me in the least. Self-preservation was like that. I wasn’t going to overthink it because he was a bastard and now he was a dead one. Dead enough that he can’t assault or rape anyone.
After a hot shower, my head was hurting far less but I delicately braided my hair so it was off my face but not tugging on my skull at all. I moisturized and put some chapstick on, not bothering to put any actual makeup on. Instead, I pulled on my sleek black riding pants and a matching shirt and blazer, my gloves tucked in my pocket and my boots tight and comfortable. Technically, if I had missed school today, I wouldn't be allowed to use the center. But who was going to tell me that if they were all busy? Plus, seems like they were all avoiding me because I was some heir to some throne.
Coffee. I would focus on it after coffee. The house was silent, my stepmother out somewhere. I slid into my BMW and took off towards a local coffee shop. Honestly, it was a bit odd she hadn’t come to wake me up.
Once I had a hot cup of coffee, removing overcomplicated thoughts from my head for the moment, I made my way over to the school, parking near the stables. I smiled as I neared the structure, seeing Price being groomed by one of the stable boys.
“Hey there,” I chirped as the kid snapped his head up and blushed. I am going to assume freshman here.
“Hello,” he stated softly, “I didn’t realize you were taking Price out. I can finish grooming him another time.”
I shook my head running a hand through his mane, “No please continue, I am actually going to walk the paths for a minute and make sure they are clear. It’s been storming a lot.”
The spring air felt good on my skin and instantly the sound of thunder echoed outside, rain filling my lungs.
